beyond natural haircare

We celebrate authenticity in product formulation and people. We are here to challenge the trajectory of the haircare industry, to celebrate individuality and empower you to love your authentic, natural hair – the curls, cowlicks, frizz and flyaways.

Formulated and made in Aotearoa New Zealand, we use active botanicals that are proven to strengthen, nourish and protect against damage. That way, whether you’re into a daily blow-dry or prefer to wash-and-go, we’ll keep your hair and scalp healthy and feeling naturally at their best.

Bringing together nature, science, style, and performance with responsibly sourced, active botanicals – an antidote to the greenwashing and misleading claims circulating the wider beauty industry.

Botanical actives, proven to deliver results.

We are entirely transparent — our products have no disclaimers. We are driven by an obligation to be kind to our environment, and to our bodies.

We use proven active botanicals and bio-based ingredients that are responsibly sourced. Many are organic or wild-harvested and we opt for locally produced products whenever possible.

We work with value-aligned suppliers who pay their workers fairly, and partner with local and Indigenous communities to harvest and process their native botanicals. Our ingredients are never tested on animals — we are PETA cruelty-free certified.

Our styling products are 100% naturally derived, while the Refresh + Replenish range is >98%. For stability and performance, these three products include nature-identical preservatives and a plant-based, semi-synthetic conditioning agent as there are currently no 100% bio-based options available. These ingredients are safe, non-toxic, Ecocert and COSMOS certified.

MEET ADELLE RODDA - FOUNDER, STYLIST AND SCIENCE GRADUATE

"I’ve been a hairstylist for over 15 years. And, as a science grad (BSc. Dip Form Chem), I was frustrated by the greenwashing and misleading claims that are rife in the beauty industry. So I began formulating hair products for my clients with natural and effective, research-backed ingredients. Now, it’s grown into botaniq."

closed-loop packaging

We chose amber glass and aluminium packaging for botaniq because it can be refilled or infinitely recycled, and it protects our ingredients from UV light, ensuring product potency and integrity. Better still? Our glass bottles and jars contain a minimum of 10% recycled content.

Our sugarcane labels capture and fix CO2 from the atmosphere during their production lifecycle, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

With our Return To Sender initiative, we can close the loop on waste by keeping every component of our packaging in circulation. We can sterilise and refill our packaging, recycle our labels, and ensure that plastic lids stay out of landfill by having them recycled or repurposed into other items.
